Philanthropy
At West Liberty University, each organization dedicates countless hours to contributing to their philanthropies. Each and every year, each organization spends their time putting on annual events that the entire Greek Life community, as well as other students outside of Greek Life, can attend to support. You will learn more about each organizations philanthropy and how they contribute during Round 2 of Recruitment.
Alpha Xi Delta - Autism Speaks
Our chapter takes immense pride in our love for our philanthropy, Autism Speaks. This past academic year, Epsilon Theta raised $3,678.64 dollars for our philanthropy through fundraisers such as weekly bake sales in the student union, an awareness fundraiser at Tudor's Biscuit World of Weirton, WV, and of course our annual Football FrenXi! We are constantly trying to find new ways to raise funds and awareness for autism on campus and in our community, and one of our favorite things to do with sisters during autism awareness month besides all of the fundraisers is chalking the quad with autism facts!

Beta Rho Epsilon - YWCA

Beta Rho Epsilon has two philanthropies. In the fall we have a child with cancer project. For this we find a family who has a sick child and we do events and fundraisers for the family. One family had a child who liked baseball so he could come to the game and throw the first pitch. We did fundraisers at the game as well. Another girl was to sick to come out so we did multiple fundraisers and sent the money and a group picture of all the girls in the sorority to let her know we are all there for her. The families get all the money we raise and can use it for whatever they want whether it be hospital bills or items for the kids. Our other philanthropy event is in the spring and that is the YWCA. The YWCA is an organization that helps women in difficult situations from being in an abusive relationship to needing help raising their kids to learning life skills. This organization needs a lot of items as people move in all the time. Many have kids with them as well. One event we do is our clothing drive, everyone on campus can donate any clothes, shoes, and items you would need everyday still in good condition and we donate everything to the YWCA. Another event we do is our care kits. Many of these women has to leave in a hurry and didn’t have time to pack anything so we get dental hygiene products, hygiene products, and feminine products. People on campus can come put together a bag that will be donated to the women as well.
Chi Omega - Make-A-Wish & Owl Pals with Madison Gals
With community service as one of our purposes, Chi Omega takes immense pride in our wok with our philanthropy and community service project. Chi Omegas across the country serve every year to raise money for The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 2002, Chi Omega has partnered with The Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant children’s wishes. The Nu Theta chapter has raised over $9,000 for The Make-A-Wish Foundation through many bake sales and our annual Wish Week. Each year Chi Omega holds a weeks worth of events such as bake sales, movie showings, competitions and much more for our Wish Week to help raise for Make-A-Wish. We also have a local community service project we hold close to our heart. One Saturday a month we go to Madison Elementary School and do some sort of fun activity with the 3rd-5th grade girls. Since the school is in a impoverished area, we want to provide the girls with a fun day in through this mentoring project.

Delta Theta Kappa - Ronald McDonald House, Breast Cancer, & MS
Delta Theta Kappa is the only sorority on campus to donate their time to three different philanthropies: The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Breast Cancer Research, and the Ronald McDonald House. Delta Theta Kappa has an annual event each year called Turtle Week in which there are a series of competitive activities and all profits go towards The Multiple Sclerosis Society. A more popular activity they hold is Turtle Races, which has been occurring for more than five years. Last year, DOK raised around $500 during Turtle Week. In addition to Turtle Week, throughout the semester, normally around three times, a group of sisters go to the Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown. They cook dinner or lunch for the residents there and interact with all of the people there.
Lambda Psi Sigma - ASPCA
Lambda Psi Sigma’s philanthropy is the ASPCA, we show our support by doing several different campus activities throughout the academic year. This past spring we introduced the “Dog-Gone Easter Egg Hunt”, as well as doing our annual “Puppies on the Quad”. All of the money that we raise goes to either local animal shelters or to ASPCA. Lambda Psi Sigma takes pride in raising money for animals and we are very passionate about it.
